Dear Editor,
Please let us add our voices to those praising the Great American Brass Band Festival. We moved to Danville from Washington D.C. last year and this was our first festival. We believe that the GABBF ranks with anything on the Mall in Washington. The music here was first rate, and the spirit of the performers and audience made it a pleasure to participate.
A few of our highlights were:
* The parade was just the right mix of quality bands and down-home friendliness. The red wagons were great fun.
* The concerts by the courthouse gave a 19th century feel. We particularly liked the Lincoln presentation.
* The Sunday worship service was inspiring and friendly.
* The food was great. Our favorite was the Danville High School band boosters' booth.
Thanks to all who worked to make the festival happen. They created a great success. We're recommending it to all our friends and family in 2009.
