5K run/walk set

STANFORD - The Stanford Renaissance fifth annual Run for Independence 5K Run/Walk will begin 8 a.m. Saturday on Main Street.

The registration fee is $13; $33 for a team of three; and $5 for ages 15 and under. The team of three must be a business, club, church or nonprofit organization. The lowest combined times of all three team members will determine the winning team. A trophy will be awarded to the winning team, which will keep it for one year.

T-shirts will be given to all participants, and awards will be given to the top male or female finisher in each class.

Family reunion scheduled

The Bryant-Adams family reunion will be Sunday at Grove Ridge Baptist Church off Ky. 501. Bring a dish for a basket lunch. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. For more information, call Freda Phillippe at (606) 379-2182.

Wellness coach sets weight-loss challenge

HARRODSBURG - Teresa Chapman, a personal weight-loss and wellness coach, will hold a biggest loser weight loss challenge for Mercer and surrounding counties at Electric Beach Tanning and Hair Salon beginning July 10.

The 12-week program provides information on proper nutrition and food choices and encourages exercise. Each participant will receive personalized weekly, one-on-one coaching. The cost is $29 for the 12-week program. All money will be paid out in cash and prizes to the winners.

The program encourages participants to eat a healthy level of protein and calories each day and teaches the benefits of good nutrition and exercise.

Concert to benefit Kendrick

JUNCTION CITY - A benefit gospel concert will be held for Lawrence Kendrick and his family from 6:30-8:30 p.m. July 12 at First Baptist Church of Junction City, 3860 U.S. 127, south of Danville. The concert will feature Saving Grace III, Joyful Noise, Called Out, Lexington Avenue Quartet and Just 4 Him. For more information, call (859) 854-3253.

Meetings

Lincoln County Board of Adjustments - 1 p.m. July 9 at the Lincoln County Courthouse in the second floor courtroom. A public hearing on the variance application for sign size requested by Bluegrass Stockyard/Southern States for property located at the intersection of U.S. 150 and Cordier Lane in Stanford is planned.

Lancaster City Council - 7 p.m. Monday.
