Bobby Jean Fitzpatrick Holtzclaw, 81

Bobby Jean Fitzpatrick Holtzclaw, 81, of Danville, died Friday, July 4, at the Charleston Health Care in Danville.

A native of Stanford, she was born Thursday, Dec. 23, 1926 to the late James Robert and Matilda Bell Fitzpatrick. She was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, organized summer Bible School programs, and provided Christmas programs for the church along with Santa and treats for the children. She taught a morals and ethics program in the Danville schools, taught math at Danville High School, was a volunteer for Hospice, and the widow of Robert W. Holtzclaw.

She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gerry Hearin; a grandson, Robert William Holtzclaw; and a nephew, Robert Milton Hearin.

Survivors include her sons, Dr. Donald Lee (Betty) Holtzclaw of Danville and Robert Wesley (Nancy) Holtzclaw, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, June Hearin of Birmingham, Ala., and Marilyn (Bill) Acosta of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Elinor Holtzclaw Adams, Elizabeth Holtzclaw Joiner, Sherri Lynn McCurdy, Teri Kai Holtzclaw, and Geoffrey Gene Holtzclaw; 10 great-grandchildren; three nieces, Elizabeth Acosta-Lewis, Nancy Acosta Love, and Lisa Hearin Alexander; and one nephew, Robert Acosta.

Funeral services were July 7 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Quentin Scholtz and Chaplain Gary Story officiating. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Dr. Rick Fields, Jerry Germann, Tommy Davis, Gary Coyle, Jerry Hester, Rob Lewis, Peter Adams, and Jeff Joiner. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Rankin, Bruce Morris, Joan Embry, Nancy Gower, Geraldine Spoonamore Dietrich, Logan Fox Spoonamore, John David Spoonamore, and Bill Holtzclaw.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Heritage Hospice.
