Babe Ruth team second in district

The Winchester Youth Baseball League Babe Ruth 15-year-old All-Stars ended the season with a runner-up finish in the district tournament last week.

Clark County went 2-2 in district play in Owingsville.

Following an opening-round loss to Harrison County, the team battled back with wins over Lee and Bath counties before coming up on the short end of their second contest against Harrison County.

In the first game, Anthony Withrow, Will Wittmann and Cody Tubbs shared pitching duties but were unable to stop Harrison County, which scored 10 runs while collecting 17 hits.

Clark scored in the sixth inning when Tyler Cain walked and scored on a Cody Dumphard double to left field, Dumphard then scored when Cody Tubbs followed with a single to left. Logan Johnson, Brandon Miller and Wittmann also had hits for Clark.

In the second game, Jake Robin and Brandon Miller pitched, limiting Lee County to three runs on three hits in a 14—3 win.

Clark was led in hitting by Withrow and Johnson with two hits apiece, including Johnson's inside-the-park home run. Cain, Dumphard, Tubbs, Robin and Tanner True also added to the team's contributions at the plate.

In the third game, Wittmann started and went all seven innings for Clark, allowing just one earned run on three hits while collecting eight strike outs in an 8-3 win over Bath County.

Clark was led in hitting by Cain's three hits, Brandon Hatton and Wittmann added two hits, with Johnson, Withrow, Tyler Woosley and Hunter Maines adding one each.

In the finals against Harrison County, Tubbs started and pitched four innings with Robin tossing the final two innings.

The game was close in the first two innings before Harrison County took over, scoring five times in the third and added two more scores in the fourth.

Withrow and Wittmann had Clark's only two hits of the contest.
