Junction City Police Chief Jimmy Gipson was involved in a non-injury traffic accident while responding to a disturbance call Tuesday evening.
The accident occurred about 6:11 p.m. at the intersection of Hustonville Road and the bypass in Danville.
Gipson, who was driving his cruiser, had been at the Danville police station dropping off property found in a felony case when he headed back to Junction City to check out the disturbance call.
Gipson had engaged his emergency lights and sirens and was traveling south on Hustonville Road. Traffic on all sides of the intersection had stopped when Gipson approached a red light at the intersection of Hustonville Road and the Danville bypass. He then proceeded to go through the intersection and collided with a vehicle driven by Steven Sieswerda of Danville.
Sieswerda, who was traveling south on the bypass, did not have the red light.
Sieswerda proceeded through the intersection, claiming he had not heard or seen the lights and sirens on Gipson's cruiser, according to Danville police.
