The Jessamine County Ministerial Association will be having a fellowship picnic 6:30 p.m., Aug. 5 at First Assembly of God in Nicholasville for all pastors and staff of ministries and their families. A Fireside Chat with John Wesley and Francis Asbury will take place at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6. No stranger to Wilmore, renowned dramatist Chuck Killian will recreate the character, life and times of two men most responsible for bringing and spreading Methodism throughout America. "The Story of our Roots" is a true celebration of our spiritual heritage. Reception immediately following. Free and open to the public. The event will be held at the Wilmore Senior Community Center at Wesley Village.

Wilmore Presbyterian Church will hold a back to school worship and prayer service at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 7. Riverview Baptist Church, 249 Camp Daniel Boone Road, will hold a monthly singing at 6:30 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. The stage is open to all singers of any age. The event is free and open to the public. The church will provide a main course for a dinner, and those attending are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. The East Jessamine High School Band invites the public to attend the annual East Jessamine High School Marching Invitational Contest on Saturday, Sept. 6. The contest will be held at the high school at 815 Sulphur Well Road, Nicholasville. Admission will be charged, with proceeds benefiting the EJHS Band program. Concessions will be available.
