FUNERALS

Rena H. Schulz1938-2008

Rena Kay Horton Schulz, 69, of Louisville died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Baptist East Hospital.

Born Nov. 2, 1938, in Eubank, Ky., she was the daughter of the late George Washington Horton and the late Ruby Osborne Horton Bryant. She was a homemaker and, for 19 years, a server at Tumbleweed Restaurant in Louisville.

Rena Kay was a member of the Midlane Presbyterian Church in Louisville where she was active in her Sunday School class and the Fellowship Committee. Rena never met a stranger and was an active member of the YMCA in Louisville.

Survivors include her husband, Frank E. Schulz, two sons, Glenn Rice and Keith E. (Sabrina) Rice Sr., and a daughter, Angel Kay Spooner, all of Louisville; five sisters, Judy (George) VanArsdall, Patsy (Lennie) Shepperson, Margaret Horton and Katie (Sonny) Collier, all of Danville, and Charlene Antle of Moreland; two brothers, John T. (Nancy) Horton of Florence, Ky., and George (Tammy) Horton of Nicholasville; and six grandchildren, Keith E. Rice Jr., Joshua W. Rice, Zackary M. Spooner, Brandon L. Spooner, Noah S. Spooner and Halley K. Spooner. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ann Finn, Sandra Wimberly, Connie Horton and Carlene Horton.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gethsemane Baptist Church with the Rev. Steven James, the Rev. Wayne Stanchfield and the Rev. Tim Phillips. Special music will be provided by Juanita Chadwell and Ronnie Blackwell. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Keith E. Rice Jr., Joshua W. Rice, Zackary Spooner, Billy VanArsdall, Troy Antle, Christopher Antle, Jason Shepperson and Jason Sylvie.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at Stith Funeral Home, Danville.

The family requests donations be sent to Gethsemane Baptist Church Building Fund.

LINCOLN

Willard Sims1937-2008

WAYNESBURG - Williard Sims, 71, of Eubank, formerly of Bethelridge, died Sunday.

Born March 7, 1937, he was a son of the late Ernest and Lori Faulkinbury Sims and the widower of Violet Wall Sims.

Survivors include his children, Ronald D. Sims of Waynesburg, Reva Joy Wren of College Station, Texas, and Iva Carol McCullough of Science Hill; siblings, Darrell Sims, Francis Sneed, Ima Gene Durham, Carol Gene Cook and Burnice Whitaker; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Calvin H. Sims.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. Wednesday.

MERCER

Ferrell Settles1943-2008

Ferrell Gee Settles, 65, husband of Pat Warner Settles died Monday at his home.

Born May 25, 1943, in Washington County, he was the son of Martha Price Settles and the late Calbert Ted Settles.

Other survivors include a daughter, Gloria Denise (Wendall) Nall; grandchildren, Savannah Lyn and Zachary Kyle Bartley; mother-in-law, Violet Warner; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony (Marlene) Warner and Ronnie (Deborah) Cooley; and a special cousin, David (Dorothy) Price.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
