I have not stopped trying, nor will I ever. Last week, July 29, a reporter from Lexington WTVQ came at my request. He photographed the weeds and put the story on the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. news for central Kentucky to see how Danville treats its citizens.
Prior to this I have filed 24 complaints to the city code enforcement officer, appeared before the City Commission four times, discussed the problem with current commissioners and the city manager individually. I have also filed a complaint with the Boyle County attorney.
I have written a letter to the Kentucky League of Cities. I also went to Frankfort and discussed the situation with an investigator in the attorney general's office.
Planning and zoning is also part of the problem. They refuse to require proper screening on the north side, as is on the south and west sides.
One would think it would be better to enforce the ordinance than to have all this negative publicity for the city. I can only follow Ed Hays' advice and keep trying.
