Letter: Know where your children are

August 05, 2008

Dear Editor,

On Tuesday evening, July 29, between 8:30 and 9 p.m., while having guests over for dinner, two young boys between the ages of 12 and 14 entered one of the vehicles in my driveway. They were unaware that they were being observed.

They had gone through the console and taken $70 from a money clip.

Needless to say, I was very upset for our guests. The boys were seen running through our next door neighbor's yard and then to proceed to walk on around East Secretariat.

I urge parents to be more aware of what their kids are doing. It's very upsetting to have this happen, especially during this time of day. We chose not to call the police, but I will the next time.

These same kids have been seen around the neighborhood on numerous occasions, so I urge parents to be aware of where and what their children are doing.

Seventy dollars is no comparison to what will happen if the police catch them. If their parents know about it, I hope they will deal with this matter in a positive way. With so many burglaries that we have recently had in our neighborhood, people aren't going to take this lightly.
