Mabel Simpson Burdine, 85, died Aug. 15. She was born June 26, 1923, in Maulden, Ky. to the late Mark and Cora Ward Simpson. Mabel was a retired bookkeeper for P. Edward Villeminot Jewelers.
Survivors are two daughters, Susie Cummins and Janet, and husband Don Jr. Kiser, a grandchild, Matthew D. Simpson, all of Lexington and other family members. She was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Burdine.
Services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Betts & West Funeral Home with the Rev. T. David Redish officiating with burial following in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Bearers were Ed Cummins, Matthew Simpson, Randy, Mark and David Travis and Gary Burdine. Honorary Bearers were Bob Cobb, Lewis Brashear, Ira Brashear and Karl Lee.
