Weddings for Aug. 24

Mason-van Onselen

Brian Scott Mason and Nicola Francesca van Onselen were married May 21 at their home in Morehead by Lee McGlasson.

Best man was Lonny Benoit of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La.

The bride, a masters graduate of Morehead State University in Tuba Performance begins her doctoral studies at Univeristy of Kentucky this fall. Prior to moving to the U.S. she was a band director and principal tuba player for the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra and Cape Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa.

The groom is the son of Farris and Connie Mason of Danville. He is a graduate of Boyle County High School, bachelor of music graduate of University of Kentucky, and masters of music graduate of University of Nevada Las Vegas. He is completing his doctorate in Music at UK, in addition to serving as percussion coordinator and designer for the Santa Clara Vanguard and assistant principal percussionist for the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra.

Smith-Spaulding

Adam Dewayne Smith and Valerie Lynn Spaulding were married June 7 by Justin Gillespie at Indian Hills Christian Church.

Erin Kelly of Lexington served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kelli West of Eminence and Ashley Wray of Richmond. Flowergirl was Katie Broughton of Barbourville.

Best man was Travis Rossman of Barbourville. Groomsmen were Chris Smith and Scott Warren, both of Barbourville.

The bride is a daughter of Dr. T. Mitchell and Kathy Spaulding of Stanford. She is a 2004 graduate of Lincoln County High School and a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. She is an EKU graduate student in the university's occupational therapy program.

The groom is a son of Jerry and Sherry Smith of Barbourville. He is a 2000 graduate of Knox Central High School and a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. He is a member of the Madison Coutny Board of Education.

A reception was held in the church fellowship hall. After a trip to Sandals Grande Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple lives in Richmond.

Shanklin-Coleman

Sandra Kay Shanklin and James E. Coleman were married July 21 in at the Chapel of the Glades in Gatlinburg, Tenn., by the Rev. Sheffner

She is the daughter of Patricia Shanklin of Georgetown and Robert and Alice Shanklin of Berry. She is a graduate of Harrison County High School and is customer service manager mastery trainer for Food Lion.

The groom is the son of William Coleman of Stanford. He is a graduate of Lincoln County High School and assistant manager for Food Lion in Paris.

After a honeymoon in Gatlinburg, they live currently in Cynthiana.
