Fiscal Court to meet

The Clark County Fiscal Court will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Clark County Courthouse. The court is scheduled to give first reading to an ordinance setting a property tax rate and to approve a county road plan.

Wastewater plant dedication Friday

Winchester Municipal Utilities, in conjunction with city and county officials and the Winchester-Clark County Industrial Authority, will hold a dedication ceremony for the new Strodes Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant at 11 a.m. Friday. The event will be at 2033 Van Meter Road, and lunch will be provided.

Retirement reception for city employees

The City of Winchester will hold a retirement reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the commission chambers of City Hall to honor former City Commissioner JoEllen

Reed, Police Chief William M. Jackson II and payroll clerk Grace Perry. The public is invited.

Park and ride meeting Thursday

The Clark County Judge-Executive's office will host a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the fiscal courtroom of the Clark County Courthouse to continue discussion on a local park-and-ride program.

Clark County Kiwanis

The Clark County Kiwanis Club will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Vittorino's Italian Restaurant, 34 N. Main St. The August business meeting will be held, donations for the Backpack Program will be collected, and the monthly auction will be held. The meeting is open to all interested persons.

Homemakers Council

The Clark County Homemakers Council and Club officer training will be held at 6 p.m. at the extension office. A salad-and-dessert dinner will be served. Club officers will receive training on their specific duties.

Salvation Army meeting

The Local Service Unit of the Salvation Army will meet at 5 p.m. at the Community Services building on Taylor Avenue.

School board special meeting

The Clark County Board of Education will have a special meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Central Office for a public hearing on proposed tax rates.

Library tax rate hearing today

There will be a public hearing at 4 p.m. today concerning the proposed 4 percent tax increase for the 2007-08 fiscal year. The hearing is open to the public.
