Winchester singer Lauren Mink to open festival at street dance

Although local singer Lauren Mink has opened a concert for the Pioneer Festival before, she is overly excited about opening the entire event which kicks off with the street dance.

Boyfriend Jon Curtis and local band JoJo Gunn will also perform.

The 22-year-old Winchester native has been performing at the festival since she was 13 and entered the talent contest in which she placed third.

"This was the first time I had ever played a guitar and sang in front of people besides in church," said Mink.

She has opened past Pioneer Festival concerts for Billy Currington and Rodney Atkins.

"I am really excited about opening for the street dance. This is something new for me, although I have attended the street dance since I was little," Mink said.

Local band JoJo Gunn, will also open for Luke Bryan and Jason Michael Carroll Sunday night at Lykins Park.

"This has been my 17th or 18th show," said Billy Spiley, a member of the JoJo Gunn band.

"This is the biggest show and the highlight of the year. It is a great honor to have been chosen to open for these artist," Spiley continued.
