KNOB LICK - Kentucky State Police arrested a Junction City man early this morning and charged him in connection with a structure fire Wednesday.
Christopher Herring, 29, of White Oak Road was arrested at 3:12 a.m. in Perryville and charged with second-degree arson.
Just before 10 p.m. Wednesday, the Lincoln County Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 7205 Ky. 300, or East Knob Lick Road, in Lincoln County. The area is just over the Boyle County line from Junction City.
The home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.
While on the scene, firefighters requested KSP Arson Investigator Pat Alford and advised that the fire was of an unknown origin.
Alford responded and conducted several interviews with witnesses, and with the victim, Eddie Burton, 79, of Junction City.
The evidence and interviews lead the investigator to Herring.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
Herring is lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center, with his bond pending a pre-trial hearing.
