* James Curtis Murphy, 78, of Liberty died Saturday. He was the husband of Merlie Jane Murphy. Arrangements are pending at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Geneva F. Campbell1927-2008

Geneva F. Campbell, 81, of Lexington, formerly of Danville, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born Wednesday, June 15, 1927, in Boyle County, she was daughter of the late George and Theresa Rosenauer Avritt. She was a homemaker and member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lexington. Mrs. Campbell was a former member of First Baptist Church in Danville and a former employee of Palm Beach.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Goldey of Lexington and Theresa (Darrell) Osborne of Winchester; three grandchildren, Phillip M. Lamb, Christopher M. (Aimee) Lamb and Darin Osborne; and a great-grandson, Braxton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Lee Campbell; two sons, Charles "Chuck" Rice and Kenneth Rice; brother, George "Buck" Avritt; and sister, JoAnn Landers.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Dr. Tony A. Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Wanda Russell1933-2008

Wanda Elaine Brown Pendygraft Russell, 75, of Lexington Avenue died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Friday, Aug. 18, 1933, in Moreland, she was daughter of the late Aldine and Gladys Mullins Brown. She was a retired employee of Certified Brake. Wanda was a Christian and loved listening to John Hagee Ministries. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed canning and cooking. Most of all she will be remembered for her love of life and laughter.

Survivors include four sons, Kenny Pendygraft of Moreland, and Benny Pendygraft, Eddie Pendygraft and Louis Pendygraft, all of Danville; a brother, Charles M. Brown of Hustonville; a sister, Norma McWhorter of Danville; two granddaughters, Amber Linette and Amanda Elaine Pendygraft; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan and Jeremy Quinn, and Sarah Ferrell.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Gay Pendygraft, and a grandson, Derek Quinn.

An Appreciation of Life service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with brother Billy Maxey officiating. Burial will follow in Parksville Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be John Brackett, Alfred Lee Cook, James Westerfield, Scott Branaman, Mike Tyler and Danny Wilson.

Betty Stith1922-2008

Funeral services for Elizabeth "Betty" Stith, who died Tuesday, Aug. 26, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Danville Presbyterian Church.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home.

Memorials are requested to Heart of Kentucky United Way, Centre College or the Bluegrass Mental Health-Mental Retardation Board.

Harold "Bubby" Tate Jr.1947-2008

On Friday night God took one of his saints home, Bubby Tate Jr.

Harold Owen "Bubby" Tate Jr. was 61 and the husband of Jane Denson Tate.

Born May 5, 1947, he was a son of the late Harold Owen Tate Sr. and Delpha Raley Tate. Bubby was self employed as a painter with Tate and Son Painting. He was a member of a Baptist church, but enjoyed attending Bowen Fellowship, where his son pastors, and Perryville Church Of God.

Besides his family, one of his great loves was restoring and renovating older homes. He also loved fishing, when time allowed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Mark (Lena) Tate of Bradfordsville; two daughters, Michelle (Kenny) Hill of Danville and Rhonda (Scott) Holloway of Stanford; four sisters, Patricia (Leonard) Chumbley of Harrodsburg, Shirley (Johnny) Hourigan of Gravel Switch, Nettie (Eddie) Elliott of Mississippi and Darlene (Larry) Shearer of Danville; three grandchildren, Todd Lane, Amber Mullins and Sarah Grace Tate; and three great-grandchildren, Brysten and Bryllie Lane, and Dakota Mullins.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Perryville Church Of God by the Rev. Buddy Turpin. Burial is in Parksville Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be 5-9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Wilder Funeral Home. There also will be a visitation after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Danny Bright, Roger Followell, Gary and Tim Denson, Larry Hill and Pete Wofford.

Honorary pallbearers are members of Perryville Church Of God and Bowen Fellowship.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Relay for Life.

WAYNESBURG - Clarence R. Barnett, 82, of Waynesburg died Aug. 29, 2008, at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford.
