Clarence R. Barnett, 82

Clarence R. Barnett, 82, of Waynesburg, died Friday, Aug. 29 at the Fort Logan Hospital.

A native of Pulaski County, he was born March 14, 1926 to the late Dan Borden Barnett and Marie Daulton Edwards. He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer with Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home in Waynesburg for more than 57 years, helped organize the Waynesburg Area Rescue Squad, served as Lincoln County Coroner from 1961-1973, a World War II veteran, member of Double Springs Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 18, and member and Past Master of the Waynesburg Masonic Lodge for more than 60 years.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife Virginia Trowbridge Barnett.

Survivors include his wife, Selma Conatser Barnett of Waynesburg; one son, Dan (Jane) Barnett of Stanford; daughters, Sue Ann (Boyd) Hall of Science Hill and Clara Rae (Don) Hought of Lexington; step son, Sherman (Sally) Conatser of Stanford; step daughters, Judy (Randy) McGuffey of Waynesburg and Regina (Dennis) Martin of Stanford; sisters, Pauline Wiese of Somerset and Charlotte Magazzeni of Somerset; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sept. 1 at Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home in Waynesburg with Revs. Vola Brown and Ron Shepherd officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Masonic services by Waynesburg Masonic Lodge and military services by Caswell Saufley Post 18 were held at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were members of the Waynesburg Masonic Lodge. Honorary pallbearers were all funeral directors.

Memorials preferred to Double Springs Baptist Church.
