Tractor-trailer delayed for five hours in Mercer during search for drugs

HARRODSBURG -- An 18-wheeler was pulled over for 5 1/2 hours Monday on U.S. 127 north of Harrodsburg near the intersection with the bypass while its cargo was searched for drugs.

The tractor-trailer was carrying a load of cars and drugs were believed to be in one of the cars, police said. No drugs were found, but a passenger in the vehicle was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Those involved in the search were Harrodsburg police, Mercer County Sheriff's Office, Kentucky State Police and the state Department of Vehicle Enforcement.
