Agnes Rhodus Purcell, 71

Agnes Rhodus Purcell, 71, of Poor Ridge Pike, Lancaster, died Sunday, Sept. 14 at her home.

A native of Madison County, she was born July 14, 1937 to the late Burnam Rhodus and Ida Rhodus. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Williams Catholic Church.

She was also preceded in death by Carl Rhodus, Price Rhodus, and Molly King.

Survivors include her husband, Russell Dean Purcell; three sons, Roger Dean (Becky) Purcell and Danny Wayne (Brenda) Purcell both of Lancaster and Robert Douglas Purcell of South Carolina; two daughters, Pam (Duane) Miller of Lancaster and Jennifer (Byron) Ray of Georgetown; one brother, Earl (Bunny) Rhodus of Waco; two sisters, Christine Gilliam of Somerset and Virginia (Gilbert) Clark of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sept. 17 at the St. Williams Catholic Church in Lancaster with Monsignor Beiting and Father Tobias officiating. Burial was in Lancaster Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jeremy Miller, Travis Purcell, Tim Purcell, Paul Purcell, Kevin Arnold, Randall Clark, and Jason Rhodus. Honorary pallbearers were Amanda Ingram, Sara Purcell, Danielle Purcell, Melanie Purcell, Scarlett Sykes, Elizabeth Miller, Kaitlyn Purcell, Dylan Ray, Rachael Ray, Morgan Sykes, and Rylea Purcell.

Spurlin Funeral Home of Lancaster was in charge of the arrangements.
