The question-and-answer portion of the forum yielded a number of answers to lingering questions regarding the forms of government.

According to Chaney, if Danville changes to a mayor-council government, the city commission would decide by ordinance whether council members would be elected at large or by districts in partisan fashion.

The potential appointment of a city administrator in a mayor-council form also was discussed. A city administrator essentially would serve the same role as a city manager but with far less power and would answer to the mayor.

A city council would pass an ordinance establishing the position; however, it would be the decision of the mayor whether to fill it or not.
