Net Xpress: Sprint version of Blackberry Curve doesn't have WiFi

September 29, 2008|SHEILA J. CLARK

This week, I will be addressing a question from my mailbag from J.W. who has a brand new Blackberry Curve via Sprint. He inquired about the possibility of connecting it to his home WiFi network. He also wants to know about how to use the Bluetooth technology on his phone.

Sorry, J.W., but the Sprint version of the BlackBerry Curve does not have Wi-Fi. However, the Curve can be used as a modem for laptops and tablet PCs using Bluetooth. There may be an additional cost to use this feature based on your plan level.

How to connect a Blackberry via Bluetooth to another Bluetooth-enabled device:

Verify that Bluetooth is turned on and that your BlackBerry is paired with a Bluetooth-enabled device.

To connect to a Bluetooth-enabled device, do the following steps:

1. In the device options, click Bluetooth.

2. Click a Bluetooth-enabled device.

3. Click Connect.

Weird display functions

The Ctrl-Alt-Direction key sequence is used for changing the screen orientation of your display. This only works if your computer is using an ATI video card or other video cards that have this feature enabled. Here are the key sequences for changing your display orientation:

Ctrl-Alt-Up - right side up

Ctrl-Alt-Right - 90 degrees

Ctrl-Alt-Down - 180 degrees

Ctrl-Alt-Left - 270 degrees

Note: If this doesn't work, try Ctrl-Shift-R

On Windows Vista:

1. Go to the Desktop

2. Right click

3. Click on Graphics Properties

4. Click on Display Settings tab

5. Change the Rotation back to 0 degrees
