South Fork Baptist Church news

October 02, 2008|Curtis Brock

Hello from South Fork Baptist Church. Another great day was experienced at church this weekend. Our Sunday school attendance report showed 43 attending Bible study. During our morning worship service we participated in the baptismal service for MacKenzie Hill. We were glad that her mom and dad was able to be in attendance in support of this milestone in their daughter's life. Our attendance showed 70 with 41 coming back for our evening service.

My message dealt with the passage from Hebrews 2:1-4 that talked about us "neglecting so great salvation." It is a dangerous thing to "neglect" the wonderful gift of God's salvation for all who will receive it. Think about whether or not you have accepted it or have you been guilty of neglecting God's offer. Remember the Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son...and He sent His Son on your behalf. What keeps you from taking charge of your life and committing your life into His care. I know there are many who might read this and think that believing in God is a most absurd thing, but don't allow your own "ignorance from a spiritual standpoint" lead you further and further away from the truth of God's Word.

On Sunday night, I submitted to the congregation that God is the Creator. Scripture bears record of His handiwork. If you believe that common man could create the world into being your wrong. It did not happen by some "big bang" theory either. It was a God thing! Just take note the next time you view the stars in the sky or feel the gentle breeze blowing against your face. But the most incredible thing that God created was man. God created man to be in a relationship with Him. Do you enjoy this relationship or do you not know God intimately as "your God." Maybe you find your "god" in material things, which are temporal. Why not invest into that which will pay great dividends for you. God is in control of everything! Is He the controlling factor in your life?

Again, if you are not in relationship with God I would be more than happy to speak to you about your spiritual condition. Call me at (606) 303-2445 and start the ball rolling. If you have negative or positive feedback I would love to hear from you. Email me at pastor@southforkchurch.com. Until next week keep looking up.
