Mattie McLean: March 25, 1929 - Oct. 2, 2008

Mattie Harper McLean, 79, widow of Billy Mclean, died Thursday October 2. She was born March 25, 1929 in White Oak, Ky., to the late Kelly and Lida Ann Blair Harper. She was a retired waitress for Walgreens and a member of the Church of Christ on Lake Street. Survivors are seven children, Lewis McLean of Lexington, Patricia and husband Jim Brumfield of Richmond, Sammy and wife Sandra McLean of Nicholasville, Alice and husband Steve Tubbs of Paris, Paula and husband Danny Dunn of Mt. Sterling, Sherry Sauls of Nicholasville, Jeffrey and wife Sherry Mitchell McLean of Nicholasville, 26 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers, two special friends, Dorothy Woods and Barbara Taylor, both of Nicholasville and other family members.

She was also preceded in death by two children, William and George McLean and seven sisters. Services were held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Betts & West Funeral Home. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Bearers were David and Tommy Brumfield, Stephen Sauls, Johnny Blakeman Jr., Sammy McLean Jr., Richard and William E. McLean. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
