The Winchester Municipal Utilities Commission on Thursday elected long-time commissioner Gerry Yeiser to serve as commission chairman, following the recent request by Dexter Noble not to be reappointed to the seat.

Yeiser, a commercial property manager and real estate appraiser, has served on the commission for more that 13 years. He is also co-owner of the Yeiser Industrial Park.

"I will do my best to live up to the confidence and pressure you put on me and continue the good job that Mr. Noble had been doing for the last several years," he told the commission.

Noble served as chairman for eight years, but he submitted a letter to Mayor Ed Burtner last month stating that he would not accept reappointment for another term, due to the "demand for time in his personal interests and business."
