Winchester Fire-EMS and the Clark County Health Department have been awarded scholarships to participate in a training conference on "Remembering When: A Fire and Fall Prevention Program for Older Adults," which was developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
The scholarships pay for travel expenses for two participants, curriculum materials and training.
The conference will be Dec. 3-5 in Boston. NFPA has selected two-member teams from 41 communities across the country to participate.
The teams comprise one member of the fire department and an individual from a local agency that serves older adults.
Major Neal Oliver of Winchester Fire-EMS and a representative of the Clark County Health Department will attend.
Following the workshop, Winchester Fire-EMS will conduct a minimum of five group presentation and at least two training sessions for the Health Department, which will integrate materials from the curriculum into its outreach program.
More information on the program is available at www.nfpa.org/rememberingwhen.
