Letter: Harmon clarifies letters from forum

October 24, 2008

Dear Editor,

I thought I might need to clarify the events which took place during the 54th District State Rep. forum on Oct. 14 and the reporting by The Advocate-Messenger the following day. The evening of the debate, I read from two letters praising my work in Frankfort on behalf of farmers and retired teachers.

One letter was from Kentucky Farm Bureau and one was from the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association. Both of these letters are posted on my Web site at mike-harmon.com. I at no time claimed to be endorsed by these organizations, and to my knowledge neither endorses candidates.

The Advocate listed a correction in Friday's paper relating to their mistake. It may have occurred when, in addition to quoting the letters of praise, I did list my endorsements from The Kentucky Right To Life Political Action Committee, the National Rifle Association and the Kentucky Chamber PAC. I appreciate the opportunity to make this clarification before there is any further misunderstanding. Thanks and God bless.
