The George Rogers Clark High School Marching Band placed in the top four bands Saturday at the Kentucky Music Educators Association Class 5A East Regional competition.
Twelve bands competed in the event at Tates Creek High School, and eight were chosen to advance to the state semifinals Saturday at Papa John's Stadium in Louisville.
GRC has not placed in the top four at regionals since 2005.
Lafayette placed first, followed by Dunbar, Madison Central and GRC. Placing in the East Region top four ensures that GRC will perform in the final eight among the 16 Class 5A bands at KMEA state semifinals Saturday.
After Saturday's results were announced, GRC drew to perform 12th out of 16 in Louisville Saturday.
Along with the eight bands from the Class 5A East Regional, eight more from the Class 5A West Regional will advance to state semifinals.
