LANCASTER - The Garrard County 4-H Country Ham Club will have a ham auction at 2 p.m. Monday at the extension office, 1302 Stanford Road.
Eight youths ages 10-18 will participate, each selling one ham.
Hams for sale were cured by the participants under the supervision of Penn's Country Hams in Mannsville.
"The kids either had their hams cured at a facility first or built their own curing sheds," project leader Terri Lane said. "They've made three trips down to Penn's, and they were required to take their ham to the state fair."
At the fair in mid-August, club members gave a speech as part of their communications project, and most won blue ribbons for their hams.

The deadline to register and pay the $45 fee for the new season for the Country Ham Club is Nov. 15. For more information, contact 4-H Agent Susan Campbell at (859) 792-3026.
