North Main wreck injures woman

November 05, 2008|Mike Moore

A woman was sent to the hospital following a two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Barnes and North Main streets last Thursday morning, Oct. 30.

According to a Nicholasville Police Department accident report, a 1999 green Ford Ranger pickup truck, driven by Torey L. Renner of Scottsville, Ky., pulled out in front of a 2008 white Ford F450 truck, driven by Robbie Mulcahy of Nicholasville, near the intersection of North Main and Barnes streets.

The wreck occurred around 10:25 a.m. when a White Ford T-boned a green Ford Ranger, causing it to flip onto its passenger side, trapping Kathy Henson of Nicholasville.

According to the accident report, Henson was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was partially ejected from the Ford Ranger's passenger window as the truck came to rest on top of her.

Renner told police that he did not see the other truck because his vision was obstructed by a delivery truck parked in the Speedway parking lot. According to the police report, Renner failed to yield the right of way.

Henson was pinned under the Ford Ranger for about 30 minutes while members of the Nicholasville Fire Department worked to free her by jacking up the truck and cutting off its roof.

Henson was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital.

A two-block portion of Main Street was closed off to traffic for about an hour due to the wreck. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
