Detective says suspect had accomplice

Lincoln County Sheriff's Detective Donnie Gilliam plunks a stack of photos down on his desk.

"See if any of these trip your trigger," he says.

The photos show the before, during and after of a strong-arm robbery at Food Lion in Stanford at closing time the night of Wednesday, Oct. 8.

In the series, a hooded suspect, sans shopping cart, goes from aisle to aisle before forcing a clerk against a wall, snatching cash from her hand and fleeing.

The pictures, taken from the store's security video, are blurry, at best. "But I've seen worse," Gilliam said.

"I definitely have a suspect," he said, "and I don't think that suspect acted alone."

Among the photos is one of a female shopper Gilliam would like to interview. He said store employees told him the unidentified shopper was in the store during the robbery but did not necessarily witness it. The shopper paid cash for a few items and left before police arrived, Gilliam said.

Store employees Janie Brock and C. J. Reed were also in the store during the robbery, Gilliam said.
