BIKE group sets meeting

BIKE Boyle County, a local group that advocates bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly streets and trails, will hold its November meeting 6:30 p.m. today in the conference room at Danville city hall. Special guest at the meeting will be Matt Osborne, newly appointed director of adventure tourism with the Kentucky Arts and Heritage Council.

The meeting will focus on plans and efforts within the state to promote Kentucky as an adventure tourism destination for cyclists, runners, hikers and others seeking similar activities.

There also will be discussion on what local communities like Danville can do to make themselves more attractive to residents and tourists seeking opportunities for active recreation and vacations.

The meeting is open to the public.

Library needs help to ship books

LIBERTY - The Friends of the Casey Library organization is asking for donations to pay for shipment of 68 volumes of condensed books to Afghanistan.

The books will be shipped using media mail rates, said Tom Ellis, president of the group. For more information, call Ellis at (606) 787 5277.

Danville native honored at Centre

Mary Quinn Kerbaugh Ramer, a Danville native, was honored with the Young Alumna Award during homecoming activities Oct. 25 at Centre College.

The award recognizes young alumni for their professional achievement, civic accomplishments and/or service to Centre College. It is awarded to alumni who have graduated within the last 15 years.

Ramer, a 1998 graduate of the college, is vice president of tourism and marketing for the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau, and formerly was the director of the Danville-Boyle County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Ramer is the daughter of Glyn Kerbaugh and Cheryl Gibson, both of Danville.

Pizza Hut to help animal rescue groups

Pizza Hut in Danville will donate 20 percent of all dine-in or carry out orders between 5 and 10 p.m. today to Sadie's Animal Rescue and Willow Creek Sanctuary.

Meeting

Boyle County Fiscal Court - 10 a.m. Wednesday. The agenda includes EMS position changes and discussion about employee health insurance.
