Surgeon joins Clark Regional under UK affiliation

November 13, 2008

Dr. Steve Noe, a general surgeon, has joined the practice of Dr. Becky Bartee as a result of the affiliation between Clark Regional Medical Center and UK HealthCare.

Both surgeons are UK faculty members. The addition of Noe is part of a long-term plan to bring additional specialty services to Clark Regional. Last November, Clark Regional and UK HealthCare announced an affiliation to provide enhanced services locally.

For almost a year, UK HealthCare, in consultation with the board of trustees of Clark Regional, community leaders and medical staff, have worked together to identify health needs in the area, according to UK HealthCare.

Noe joined UK in October. He is a former UK general surgery resident who came to Clark Regional from Maysville where he was in private practice. Noe is originally from Cincinnati and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

"I am thrilled to be part of the UK HealthCare family at Clark Regional Medical Center," he said. "I realize the need for additional specialists in communities like Winchester. I hope I can help address some of those pressing needs, and at the same time, offer patients the convenience of staying closer to home."

Noe joins Bartee, who has been a general surgeon at Clark Regional since 1997. She officially joined UK HealthCare as a faculty member in September.

"We are pleased to see the progress at Clark Regional," said Dr. Michael Karpf, UK executive vice president for health affairs. "The addition of Dr. Noe with Dr. Bartee really helps stabilize access to general surgery in the Winchester area. I believe that is extremely important. It's just one step in a series of others that this partnership will address,."

UK HealthCare is also helping Clark Regional recruit other specialists, including radiologists, pulmonologists, oncologists and cardiologists, according to officials.
