Opal Dedman Hensley, 86, of Stanford, died Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the Fort Logan Hospital.
A native of Woodford County, she was born Sept. 23, 1922 to the late Harrison and Gertrude Strange Dedman. She was a homemaker, member of Willow Grove Baptist Church, foster parent for 50 years, volunteer for Bluegrass Community Action, former librarian for East Hickman Baptist Church in Lexington, active in the Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center, and the widow of Ernest Floyd Hensley, Sr.
She also preceded in death by three brothers, Sharlton, Owen and Dixon Dedman; and two sisters, Rebecca Hensley and Florence Campbell.
Survivors include three sons, Ernest (Virginia) Hensley and David (Lorene) Hensley both of Stanford, and Rick (Darlene) Hensley of Whitley City; two daughters, Lisa (Fred) Fox and Elizabeth (Robert) Bowen both of Stanford; one brother, Tommy Dedman of Lexington; a sister, Lena Barney of Lexington; a special friend, Bonnie Caldwell; nine grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
