Centre soccer: Menard named second team All-American

December 11, 2008

Centre College senior Erin Menard has been named to the 2008 NSCAA/adidas Women's NCAA Division III All-American second team.

Menard led the women's soccer team with 10 goals this year and also had one assist. She is the school's fifth all-time leading scorer.

"Erin came to Centre wanting to accomplish several things. The first was to make the national tournament and the second was to become an All-American," said Centre coach Jay Hoffman. "I guess you could say Erin is taking a long nap and waiting for all her dreams to come true. She can now wake up from that amazing four-year career of hers and enjoy what she has done.

"Right from the start, Erin has been able to score goals, and plenty of them. She also has been able make herself a dominant presence on the field. There are many things that Erin does extremely well. The one thing that gets unnoticed is how she can take a training environment and turn it into an environment that breads success.

"Day in and day out, Erin did the little things that made her special. I could not be happier for Erin."

She was also named to the NSCAA/adidas NCAA Women's D-III All-Great Lakes Region first team as well as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference first team.

Senior teammate Allison Terry has been named to the All-Great Lakes Region second team.

Terry was also named Tri-Offensive Player of the Year in the SCAC. She had seven goals and six assists and four of her goals were game winners.

The two helped Centre finish second in the conference and qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
