Convention returns to Kentucky

Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer welcomed news that the National FFA Convention is returning to the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville for a three-year run starting in 2013.

The national convention attracts more than 55,000 FFA members and guests from throughout the United States and generates an estimated $40 million in economic activity.

Louisville hosted the convention from 1999-2005. Indianapolis has hosted the convention the last three years. After 2015, the convention will return to Indianapolis for three years.

Kentucky FFA has some 15,000 members, a 50 percent increase over the past 20 years. FFA is open to any student in grades 7-12 who is enrolled in an agriculture course in a public school.
