Charles William Barnes, 89

Charles William Barnes, 89, of Lancaster, died Sunday, Dec. 21 at Fort Logan Hospital.

A native of Garrard County, he was born Thursday, Oct. 9, 1919, to the late James Franklin and Edna Hubbard Barnes. He was a farmer, member of Lancaster Baptist Church, D.A.V., and the American Legion and a Marine veteran.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Clarence, and Bradley Barnes; three sisters, Virginia Fuller, Sylvia Davis, Minnie Hazel Carter; and one grandson, Robert M. Barnes.

Survivors include his wife, Oneeta Sanders Barnes; two sons, Ronnie (Janice) Barnes and Donnie (Karen) Barnes both of Lancaster; two brothers, Herbert Hoover (Mary Ann) Barnes of Cincinnati, Ohio and Virgil "Doc" (Fannie Sue) Barnes of Elloree, S. C.; one sister, Dorothy Jean Jacovino of Louisville; four grandchildren, Ronnie S. Barnes, Dondra West, Donovan and Donnelly Barnes; two great grandchildren, Dalton R. and Makenzie T. Barnes; a sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Deering of Perryville; and a niece, Angie Deering of Perryville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24 at Ramsey Funeral Home in Lancaster with Dr. James McCarroll of Temple Baptist Church of Danville officiating. Burial will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery with military rites performed by the Caswell Saufley Post.

Active pallbearers will be Ronnie S., Donnelly, Larry, and Tommy Barnes, O.H. Robinson, and Bill Lumley. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicky, Nelson, Donovan, and Dale Barnes, Melvin Begley, Gary Noel, and Thomas Begley.

Visitation will be held 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 at the funeral home.
