Charles William Barnes, 89, of Lancaster, died Sunday, Dec. 21 at Fort Logan Hospital.
A native of Garrard County, he was born Thursday, Oct. 9, 1919, to the late James Franklin and Edna Hubbard Barnes. He was a farmer, member of Lancaster Baptist Church, D.A.V., and the American Legion and a Marine veteran.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Clarence, and Bradley Barnes; three sisters, Virginia Fuller, Sylvia Davis, Minnie Hazel Carter; and one grandson, Robert M. Barnes.
Survivors include his wife, Oneeta Sanders Barnes; two sons, Ronnie (Janice) Barnes and Donnie (Karen) Barnes both of Lancaster; two brothers, Herbert Hoover (Mary Ann) Barnes of Cincinnati, Ohio and Virgil "Doc" (Fannie Sue) Barnes of Elloree, S. C.; one sister, Dorothy Jean Jacovino of Louisville; four grandchildren, Ronnie S. Barnes, Dondra West, Donovan and Donnelly Barnes; two great grandchildren, Dalton R. and Makenzie T. Barnes; a sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Deering of Perryville; and a niece, Angie Deering of Perryville.
