Truman E. Bastin, 79, of Stanford, died Sunday, Jan. 11 at Fort Logan Hospital.
A native of Lincoln County, he was born Monday, Nov. 11, 1929, to the late Ray and Ethyl Robinson Bastin. He was a farmer, retired employee of Saufley Implement Company, former deacon of Calvary Hill Baptist Church, currently a member of Mt. Vernon Church of Christ, and the widower of Laura Moore Bastin. He served during the Korean Conflict, receiving a Purple Heart with the Company L, 15th Infantry Regiment.
He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Jane Bastin of Stanford; a son, Truman D. (Kelly) Bastin of Glasgow; a daughter, Susan (Rev. Jason) Moore of Ferguson; two stepsons, Ricky (Patty) Cromer and Wayne (Jennifer) Burton, both of Brodhead; a stepdaughter, Bonnie (Jody) Elam of Crab Orchard; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Sam Bastin of Stanford; and three sisters, Bessie Allen of Stanford, Dean Enging of Mississippi and Ann Andress of Ohio.
