Wausau announces new distribution hub

Wausau Paper announces that Bedford Park, Ill., was selected as the location for its new Printing & Writing distribution hub. Bedford Park, a southwestern suburb of Chicago, was chosen for its proximity to key Midwest commercial printing markets and the company's network of merchant distribution partners.

Transitional operations will begin shortly, and once fully operational in mid-2009 the company's overnight and same-day delivery service will be available to an increased number of central U.S. customers.

The opening of this new distribution hub is an element of the $6.6 million capital project, announced in December, to consolidate converting capacity and streamline distribution within the company's Printing & Writing business. Daniel R. Trettin, senior vice president, Printing & Writing, stated in a press release the new distribution hub will reduce transportation and operating costs as well.

From its mill facilities in Brokaw, Wis., and Brainerd, Minn., Wausau Paper produces more than 2,000 different stock items from more than 400 different types of paper ranging in weight, color, size and finishes. Approximately two-thirds of Wausau Paper's Printing & Writing commercial stocking items contain 30 percent recycled post-consumer fiber and carry the independent Green Seal certification.
