Comp plan committee proposal ready to go

February 03, 2009|Rachel Parsons

The Winchester-Clark County Planning Commission will continue working to update the community's comprehensive plan at tonight's meeting. The commission will meet at 7 p.m. at the courthouse to discuss any actions that have been taken since the last meeting.

Henry Jackson, interim director of planning and community development, said he has drafted a letter detailing the composition of the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, which has been sent to Commission Chairman Larry Disney for approval.

"Basically, at the last meeting, the commission gave the go-ahead to send a recommendation on the composition of the advisory committee, which I hope to have ready to send to the commissioners by the meeting," Jackson said.

If the letter is approved, Jackson said his recommendation is that the committee send it to Mayor Ed Burtner and Judge-Executive Henry Branham to decide how to go about recruiting committee members.

Plans for funding the plan update are also being reviewed by the Winchester Board of Commissioners and Clark County Fiscal Court, including payment for Jacobs Engineering in Cincinnati, a consulting firm that will be advising the commission throughout the process. A contract is currently being reviewed by city legal counsel as well.
