Storm debris pick up plan finalized

February 04, 2009|Journal staff report

Storm debris (limbs and brush) from Jessamine County properties can be taken to two locations: the end of Virginia Drive in Nicholasville and Witt Lane in Wilmore, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. everyday until further notice.

The Jessamine County Road Department will be picking up storm debris from residents who live on county roads. The Nicholasville Road Department will be doing the same thing in the city. All debris must be cut in six foot lengths and brought to the edge of the road.

County residents with five acres or more can burn storm debris on site. Controlled burns must be 150 feet away from structures or wood lines and must be reported ahead of time to Central Communications at 887-5447. For more information, call Emergency Management Director John V. Carpenter at 983-8836.
