School bus involved in accident

February 04, 2009|Journal staff report

A Jessamine County school bus carrying four Warner Elementary School students slid off the road Tuesday as it was taking children home after school was dismissed early because of snow.

Assistant Superintendent Owens Saylor said the bus was coming down a hill on Sugar Creek Road near Cream Ridge, when the bus began sliding.

The bus ended up sideways across the road with the back wheels in a ditch and the back bumper against a tree.

"None of the kids were injured in the accident. After we got all the kids on another van, the driver said she thought she needed to be checked out," Saylor said. "She was treated and released and we expect her to be back Friday."

Saylor said 15 of the district's 86 buses were delayed or slowed down in some capacity, but all district students were home by 4 p.m.
