Prep Basketball: KSD loses

The Kentucky School for the Deaf boys trailed by 12 points after three quarters Wednesday, but could capitaize on a third quarter rally in a 70-62 loss to visiting Evangel Christian.

Jordan Ramser led KSD (11-12) with 19 points, five rebounds, four assists and nine steals. Dustin Tipton had 12 points and six rebounds, Travis Zornoza had six points, nine boards and six assiss and Aaron Smith scored 13 points for the Colonels.

KSD was down 12 points in the second quarter, but cut the deficit to 34-26 at the half. The Colonels trailed just 50-48 after three quarters, but could get no cloer as Evangel (13-10) held on for the victory.

"We made some mental mistakes and played out of control at times. We were not in the game mentally, which cost us a chance at a victory. We forgot about the help side on our defense," KSD coach Mike Yance said. "There were many little things that could have easily changed the outcome of the game. We missed easy shots. However, I thought our team played hard and tried their best.

"I can't ask for more because they made an effort. We will get ready for our homecoming game against Ohio Deaf on Saturday."
