Letter: Thanks to Advocatefor supporting program

February 23, 2009

Dear Editor,

On behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass, I would like to thank Scott Schurz and everyone at The Advocate-Messenger for their effort in supporting our organization. The donation made from last Sunday's newspaper sales is greatly appreciated.

With our current economic trend, the services of Big Brothers Big Sisters are even more vital to help provide stability for the children in our program. It costs $1,100 to support one adult/child match for one year. We served more than 190 children in our service area in 2008.

I would like to encourage everyone to help support Big Brothers Big Sisters by putting together a bowling team for our Bowl for Kids' Sake. The event will be March 14 at Danville Bowlarama. Everyone who raises at least $75 will receive a Bowl for Kids' Sake T-shirt. This event supports children in Boyle, Mercer, Lincoln, Garrard and Jessamine counties.

We are introducing a new CEO Bowl Challenge for this year. Heads of industry, CEOs, executive directors, presidents and all head honchos are encouraged to put together a team of five people to compete against other head honchos on the day of the Bowl for Kids' Sake. The winning team will have raised the most money and bowled the highest score. That team will be the proud recipient of the CEO Bowl Challenge traveling trophy.

Please ask the leader of your workplace if he or she has signed up for this fun, new program. All funds go directly to support the matches in our local area.

Anyone interested in getting more information about Big Brothers Big Sisters or Bowl for Kids' Sake can call (859) 236-2999.

Thank you, again, Advocate- Messenger, for your continued support.
