Impostors busted in Lincoln burglary

March 01, 2009

MCKINNEY - According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sheriff Curt Folger and Deputy Bill Schnitzler responded to a burglary in progress on Boneyard Hollow Road at a property owned by Fred Cox.

Police say they discovered Dallas Messer, 39, of Sparta, and Robert Messer, 28, of Ghent, loading property into a vehicle at the scene.

Both men allegedly stated they worked for Stout Co., a subcontractor for Wells Fargo Mortgage Co., and were cleaning hazardous materials from the property. They could provide no paperwork as such, and a check with the Lincoln County Circuit Court Clerk's Office offered no filed documents to support their claim, police said.

Evidence seized at the scene indicated the two men were taking items other than hazardous material. Both were charged with second-degree burglary and lodged in the Lincoln County Regional Center.
