Farmers in 92 counties, including five Central Kentucky counties, are eligible for federal disaster assistance, including low interest emergency loans from USDA's Farm Service Agency provided eligibility requirements are met.
Acting Administrator Taitano declared Friday that Boyle, Casey, Garrard, Lincoln and Mercer counties as disaster areas due to physical losses caused by an ice storm that occurred from Jan. 26-28.
Emergency loan applications for those who suffered severe physical losses only will be received through Oct. 26, and applications pending on that date may be processed and completed.
Farmers interested in applying for assistance should contact local FSA county offices.
