Stanford Church of the Nazarene news

March 06, 2009

By Buford Edwards II

On Sunday, March 1, Stanford Nazarene Church had 59 in attendance for Sunday school, 122 in attendance for the Sunday morning worship service, as well as 72 in attendance for Sunday night's service as we gathered in a time of praise and worship and celebration in the blessings of the Lord.

The Lord is moving at the Stanford Nazarene Church, and due to growth in our congregation, we have established a building fund. We are looking to build a brand new facility, but need your help! If you are interested in donating to this fund or would like more information, contact the church at (606) 365-9200.

Keep up to date with your scripture reading. For this week the focus will be 1 John 2:3-14. Read up and come on out this Sunday and join us for Sunday school as we discuss, "Our Confident Assurance," as well as the verse of the week: "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked." (1 John 2:6, KJV)

Thought for the week: Those who claim to be believers must also walk as Jesus did.

We want to send a special thanks to Bro. Nathan Todd, who brought our message Sunday morning. We had an excellent and spirit filled service.

Another special note, Bro. Jason's single "Hallelujah Highway" has been released nationwide by Capital Records. Tune in to your favorite Southern Gospel radio station to hear Bro. Jason and this new hit. If you haven't heard it, give the station a call and request to hear this inspirational song.

We are now practicing for our Easter play. The play will be on Easter Sunday, April 12. We'd love to see everyone out for this event.

Our spring revival has been set for May 10-14. Bro. Kenny Greenway from Highpoint, N.C., will be preaching each night of our revival services. The services for May 10 will be at our usual time and May 11-14 will be at 7 p.m. For more information about Bro. Greenway, visit his website at http://www.greenwayministries.com/ .

Can you believe it is Vacation Bible School time again? This year's theme is "Museum @ 12627." This year's Vacation Bible School program will be held June 22-26. We are excited about this year's program. Bring your kids and tell your neighbors!

The church has a food ministry program administered by the ladies' group. This program delivers meals to the elderly and shut-ins in the community every Tuesday morning. The meals are free of charge and we currently serve 40 to 50 families each week. If you or someone you know could benefit from this, please contact the church for details.

The church also has an active food pantry. If you know of anyone or have a need yourself, contact the church at (606) 365-9200 for assistance.

We offer a nursery during Sunday school and Sunday morning worship services. If you have a child that is three years old or under, you can take them to the nursery for Sunday school and immediately following Sunday school.

We also have a children's church program for Sunday morning worship services. Children's church is for ages 4 to 9 and focuses on Bible study, children's choir, and drama!

Stanford Nazarene has a second youth class for kids ages 10 to 18 offer every Sunday night from 5 to 6 p.m.

We would also like to invite all children in the community to come out on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. for our Caravan program. This program works like boy/girl scouts in that the children receive awards while learning about the Bible. We also have an active youth program for ages 10 and up in the community that meets every Wednesday night.

Also, for children ages 2 to 4, we have a special Wednesday night service as well. We have adopted the "Benson's Buddies" curriculum which is a preparatory preschool course, designed to prepare the children to enter the Caravan Program.

For more information about our youth group and children's programs you can email the directors by logging on to our website at www.stanfordchurchofthenazarene.org.

Sis. Patricia Browning is doing a wonderful job directing the choir and they are making wonderful music for the Lord. If you would be interested in hearing the choir or even joining the choir we would love to have you!

Finally, don't forget about our ladies' and men's groups that meet every month. Bro. Terry Conner and Sis. Heather Coulter lead these groups and they work to provide a time of fellowship and community service to the residents of Stanford and Lincoln County. See Bro. Terry and Sis. Heather for more details!

The weekly radio broadcast can be heard every Saturday morning at 12:30 p.m. on WDFB 88.1 FM and 1170 AM. Our weekly television broadcast is back! We broadcast every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. on Time Warner Cable channel 6.

Pastor Jason Coulter has two music CD's available. The cost is $15 for both. You can request the CD's by logging on to our website or by sending a check payable to the Stanford Nazarene Church, 73 Elizabeth Ave., Stanford, KY 40484. All money received is put directly back into the ministry of the Stanford Nazarene Church.

If you would like more information about our church, events, or need transportation, contact pastors Jason and Heather Coulter at (606) 365-9200 or visit us on the Web. Thank you and we hope that all have a blessed week!
