April 13, 2009

A Stanford man was charged in connection with shooting another Stanford man with a paintball gun while both were at party in Danville early Saturday morning, Danville police said.

Lukas A. Powell, 20, of 321 Herndon Ave., Stanford, was charged with second-degree assault and placed in the Boyle County Detention Center. He later was released after posting a $400 bond, a jail spokesperson said.

About 3:44 a.m. Saturday Danville Officer Daniel Grigsby was dispatched to the Walmart SuperCenter in response to a call about a man who was sitting on a bench outside the store, police said. The man was bleeding, police said.

The man, Jared L. McQueary, 19, of 149 Edgewood Drive, Stanford, told Grigsby that he was shot multiple times at a residence at 400 Carrigan Drive, where he had been attending a party, police said.
