Herb and craft festival

LANCASTER - An herb and craft festival sponsored by the Owsley House and Nature's Thyme Herb Group will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 9 on the grounds of the historic Owsley House on U.S. 27.

There is no charge for the festival.

Vendors from all over the area will sell herbal products, foods and plants, as well as many different types of handmade crafts. Home-baked goods and cold drinks will be available for sale. A master gardener will be available to answer questions about planting herbs and vegetables.

Tours of the historic home will be available for an admission price.

Booth spaces are free and can be reserved by calling the Garrard County Extension Service office at (859) 792-3026.

Boyle FFA plans banquet, plant sale

Two FFA events are planned at Boyle County High School.

The annual FFA awards banquet will be 7 p.m. April 21 with a complimentary dinner served by the Boyle County Cattlemen's Association at 6 p.m.

A plant sale is planned 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. April 27, and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 2 and 9 in the Boyle County FFA greenhouse. Those interested may call (859) 585 6252 for an appointment.

Kindergarten preregistration

Kindergarten preregistration will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. April 23 at Woodlawn Elementary School. Parents of students who will attend Woodlawn's kindergarten during the 2009-2010 school year are asked to bring their child's birth certificate, social security card, and immunization certificate, if possible.

Incoming students also are welcome to the preregistration.

Readers Are Leaders Night for preschool students will be 6:30-7:15 p.m. immediately after pre- registration. This event is open to all incoming kindergarten students.

Commodities available

Commodities will be distributed to income eligible Casey County residents 9 a.m-4 p.m. Wednesday at the Casey County Recycling Center, 1175 Campbellsville St., Liberty.

Recipients are asked to bring their own containers.

Meetings

Lancaster City Council - 7 p.m. April 20 in the council chambers, 308 W. Maple Ave.

The agenda includes a review of city ordinances on nuisance, alcohol and dog ordinance; budget workshop and second reading of Atmos bid agreement.

Central Kentucky Elder Abuse Council - noon Tuesday at Sutton's restaurant on the Danville bypass.

Boyle County Fiscal Court - 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Fiscal Court meeting room. The agenda includes discussions on new hire for public works, Bluegrass Homeless Prevention Service project, public health taxing district tax rate and new delinquent tax procedure.
