Prep Tennis: Cards sweep Estill

The George Rogers Clark tennis team swept Estill County in a match played Tuesday in Irvine.

The Cardinals posted an 8-1 win, while the Lady Cards won by the same margin.

In boys singles, Landon Sallee (8-3), Taylor Graham (8-3), Jacob Walson (8-1), Tyler Montgomery (8-1), Blake Browning (8-1) and David Lane (8-3) each were victorious.

In doubles, Taylor Graham and Chad Griffith won by an 8-3 score and John Ruphard and Lane won by the score of 8-5.

Vu Van and Reece Glenn lost, 8-4.

On the girls' side, Ginny Rush (8-3), Makenzie Waltermire (8-0), Sarah Miller (8-0), Taylor Kindred (8-2), Jodi Chamberlain (8-3) and Caitlin Graham (8-1) each won.

In doubles, Miller and Chandler Thomas (8-4) and Brooke Lee and Kayla Harrison (8-5) each won. The doubles duo of Shelbi Denham and Katie Ledford lost, 6-2.

Clark had its match against Paris rained out earlier this week.

The team's next match is set for Thursday at the Winchester Country Club.

- The Lady Cardinals' softball game against Bourbon County was postponed and will be played at 5 p.m. today at Cardinal Heights.

- The Cardinals' contest against Montgomery County on Tuesday also was rained out.
