A Jessamine County school bus transporting two children overturned on Watts Mill Road around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, but no serious injuries were reported.

According to a news release from Jessamine County schools, Bus 26 was moving over to allow a car to pass when the front wheel dipped off the road, and the driver overcorrected.

"It came down the hill and dropped off the side and hit that embankment and flipped over," Jessamine County Fire Chief Mike Rupard said at the scene.

The two children, who were being taken home from Warner Elementary, got out of the rear emergency door. They were both unharmed.

"The bus driver got them out," Rupard said. "They were just a little banged up."

The driver, Winter Seibert, injured her left knee but was otherwise OK. She declined to comment on the accident.

According to the release, Seibert is a "fairly new bus driver," and she had no other driving incidents.

Rupard said the bus driver was restrained with a seat belt, and the children were not.
