Rape suspect's case waived to grand jury

The man accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl waived his case to the grand jury Wednesday afternoon, two days after he was arrested on new charges.

Timothy Paul Cobb, 28, of 149 French Ave., was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday afternoon in Clark District Court for two counts of first-degree rape. Instead, his attorney Lauren Clark announced they were waiving it to the grand jury for further consideration.

Cobb was already in the Clark County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond when he was served with another warrant this week, charging him with first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor for allegedly giving the same girl Percocet and having sex with her in Clark County.

Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr. said the Bourbon County Sheriff's Office opened the investigation and contacted Clark County after determining some of the alleged incidents occurred in Clark County. The investigation is still open and more charges are possible, he said.
